Moving right along...

Oh my, it has been so long since I posted.  I actually have a mostly finished post about our awesome summer vacation, but before I do that, I wanted to tell everyone that we have moved, or at least we are in the process of moving!

Just a few days after we arrived home from our wonderful family vacation in Colorado (details on that to come) we rented a U Haul and packed it up with a little less than half of our furniture and belongings....

...and we drove to Utah.  This was my view for most of the trip. Charly and Josh were in the U Haul and I followed in our family car.

As soon as we arrived, we started moving into our "new" old home.  This is the "Mid-centruy Charmer" we purchased last year.  Renters have been living here until about two weeks ago.

Although its an old home,  it is in very good condition and when we bought it, it had been lovingly cared for, maintained and improved by the original owners since 1953! We rented it out last year, but are excited to be able to move into it now.

What's more, we are very familiar with the neighborhood and even many of our new neighbors because Charly grew up on this street and his mother lived in the house just across the street until her death in 2015.  Charly's sister now lives in the family home.

This is my new neighbor who lives across the street in the house next door to Charly's boyhood home.  She is 92 and still works out in her yard, as she was doing yesterday morning.  She is such a sweet lady and remembers my husband when he and his sister and brother were little children.  Many of the neighbors have lived in their homes on this street for a long, long time, and they are so nice and friendly.

Of course, older homes, no matter how lovingly cared for, always seem to need improvements, and ours is no exception.  Since moving in, we have had carpeting removed and the hardwood floors underneath sanded and refinished.  We are so pleased with the beautiful result.

The refinishing of the floors took several days and during that time, we have been sleeping on the couch (Josh) and air mattresses (Charly' and I).  Now finally, the floors are dry and hardened enough that we can begin moving furniture on them.  This is Charly assembling our new bed just this morning.

So, that is a quick update on our move and getting settled into our new place here in Salt Lake City.  Charly and Josh will be returning to Arizona for a few months to tie up loose ends there and sell our house, plus both of their jobs are still in Arizona, for the time being.  My new teaching job is up here, so we will be racking up frequent flier and driver miles for a while, but will all eventually be up in Utah, over the coming months.

While we have many wonderful memories of our sixteen years in Arizona, and have made awesome friends we will always love, we feel that this move to Utah is what God wants for our family right now, so this my thought for this week.
